NGADJURI PEOPLE ABORIGINAL CORPORATION

    There is a wise Aboriginal saying "The Truth burns like Fire"!
     

    Our Language is complex however here we will try to detail some of our Ngadjuri Language.
     

    Ngadjuri = We People or Originally We Men.

    The word Cowie means Water and as a result many Towns in our Land have owie in them still today.

    Booborowie (Round Waterhole).

    Caltowie (Sleepy Lizard Waterhole).

    Canowie (Rock Waterhole).

    Terowie (Hidden Waterhole).

    Yarcowie (Wide Water).

     

    Koolunga = Red Banks of the Broughton River, (begs the question, did we call the River Broughton?)

    Orroroo = Many Definitions: Meeting Place of the Magpie, the original name of the Creek or the Wind.

    Wira = Gum Tree.

    Meju = Men.

    WiraMeju is Kaurna for Peppermint Gum Tree People as this is what they called us.

    Bari = River, Budli = Star, Bulali = Stars, Gudna = Poop, Mena = Eye, Mulka = Talk, Mutanga = Dance, Wali Bari = Milky Way, Wildu = The Southern Cross, Winda = Owl, Wurlie = Bark Hut.
